Your legacy

Mary-and-Elen-Case-Study-Block-210x236What’s your legacy?

Maternity Worldwide rely on the generous donations of our supporters, without you we could not save the hundreds of lives we do every year.  Leaving a legacy would make a huge difference to us no matter how big or how small it is, we can use it to buy new equipment, sponsor a midwife or even set up new projects in remote areas.  By leaving a legacy you will know that your donation will ensure many mothers survive the birth of their child and are able to love and care for their family now and for generations to come thanks to you.

When should you make a Will?

Many people don’t think about making a Will until they are older or don’t amend their Will if their circumstances change.  If you have recently bought a property, got married, had a child, got divorced, retired, had an illness, re-married or had any change in your family structure you should make sure your Will reflects these changes.  Obviously it is important your loved ones are provided for in your Will but if you would consider remembering us too you will enable us to save more women’s lives and prevent more children growing up without their mother.

If you already have a Will you can use a Codicil form to add a new instruction to your existing Will without changing any of the terms of your current Will, we advise you get this approved by your solicitor.

It costs just £15 on average to provide a safe birth for a woman at one of our projects. A small donation can be a life-saving amount for the women we help. No gift is too small.

Financial benefits of leaving a gift in your Will

Legacies are generally exempt from inheritance tax, so a gift in your Will to Maternity Worldwide could be tax free for us and in some circumstances could reduce the amount of inheritance tax your loved ones are liable for.  For more information, please visit the HMRC website.
