Taking Part in a Sponsored Event

One of the best ways you can help Maternity Worldwide continue its work in Africa is by taking part in a sponsored event. There are loads to choose from, and you will be contributing to a great course whilst keeping fit and having fun at the same time!

If you need a little bit of inspiration, here's what some of our supporters have been up to:

Our Chairman Adrian Brown successfully swam, without a wetsuit, and dressed as a penguin, in the Antarctic ocean whilst on holiday there. He says "Following a short practice swim in a seawater pool at 2 degrees centigrade I headed down to the ocean. The night before I couldn't sleep. I am not sure whether I was more worried about being embarrassed hopping round the beach dressed as a penguin or the swim itself. NOW I KNOW! IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FREEZING. THE COLD PENETRATED LIKE A KNIFE. Afterwards someone told me that the average survival time would be only 15 minutes and that most people go unconscious after 5 and get frostbite after 4 minutes. I'm glad they hadn't told me before. Fortunately help was near by with towels (cold) and I rapidly put my thermals back on." Congratulations Adrian, it's certainly inspiration to do something a little bit different. At your own risk though!

Emily Gelson took on the ultimate challenge running the Flora London Marathon. After her gruelling challenge, she said "It was a great achievement to finish the London Marathon and a huge pleasure to support Maternity Worldwide". CongratulationsEmily, you are an inspiration to us all!

Michelle Fontana successfully completed the 10k run along the Brighton seafront on the 19th November 2006. Well done Michelle, great job on your running achievement and fundraising efforts!

Vivienne Winter ran the Dublin Marathon for Maternity Worldwide, a fantastic feat. Thanks Vivienne for your support and congratulations!

And GOOD LUCK to Clare and Stuart Manley, who will be cycling with all the family - Isobel (4), Oliver, (2) and Dan (1) - 200 miles in the UK over August bank holiday. Quite a challenge!
