Brighton Marathon
The Brighton Marathon 2010 is now over - and was a fantastic success!
10 intrepid athletes, including Maternity Worldwide Chairman Adrian Brown, put on their running shoes in aid of Maternity Worldwide and everyone finished, achieving fantastic times! In fact, one of our runners, Connor, came in 48th in the whole event!! We had a range of abilities and times, but everyone achieved personal bests and help make the day the success that it was. The charity has made a whole new group of friends amongst the runners and their supporters - and we will doubtless continue to achieve great things together helping prevent women dying in childbirth in Africa.
Thank you - Carlotta, Lisa, Yan, Adrian, Josh, Tom, Suzi, Mike, Roddy and Connor! This is a fantastic achievement - and Maternity Worldwide and the women we help thank you! Money is still coming in, but after gift aid we expect to get well over £10,000!! This will make a huge difference to the charity and to the work we do.
A big thank you goes to the many volunteers that helped us on the day. We were able to have a presence at 3 places along the course - and this doubtless helped the runners on their route!
The sunny day ended with a get-together for the runners at Brighton Rocks Bar where a bit of fizz and some food helped the runners rest after their achievement - thank you to the venue and the volunteers who put this together. Here the runners, friends and family, and volunteers agreed that the day had been a huge success - and quite an emotional day.
We are told that Brighton Marathon 2011 is going to be even bigger - so we hope to see you there! We have already had prebookings from runners enthused by the achievements of this year's entrants - so if you are interested in runnng for us next year - whether it's your first marathon or not - please get in contact!
