Maternity Worldwide is currently looking for a new member of its Board of Trustees to act as treasurer. Candidates will be well-connected, politically aware as well as having a solid background in finance.

Adrian Brown
Chairman
Dr Adrian Brown MBBS MSc MRCOG MFPH

Adrian works as a consultant in Public Health in London. After initially training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and becoming a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) he then developed an interest in women's public health. He studied for a Masters in Public Health, with a particular slant towards developing countries issues. He has been responsible for the organisational development of Maternity Worldwide. Adrian is an active member of the RCOG International Executive Board.
Shane Duffy Clinical Director/Vice Chairman
Dr Shane Duffy MB BS DTM&H MSc MRCOG

Shane originates from Western Ireland and currently practises Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a teaching hospital in London. After gaining membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, he studied for a Masters in Tropical Medicine and International Health. Having worked for extended periods in developing countries he has extensive practical experience of providing women's health services in developing countries. He has taken the lead on Maternity Worldwide's Gimbie project in Western Ethiopia.
Andrew Shennan Director
Andrew Shennan MBBS MD FRCOG

Andrew Shennan is Professor of Obstetrics at King's College London, based at St. Thomas' Hospital. He is clinical lead of the Maternal and Fetal Research Unit, and specialises in clinical trials in antenatal and intrapartum care. His research interests include interventions to prevent preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, encourage normal birth and the use of blood pressure monitoring. He has an active clinical role in managing high risk obstetric patients, including a regular hands-on labour ward commitment, and a specialist preterm birth surveillance clinical that accepts national referrals. He chaired the Department of Health Committee on Blood Pressure Monitoring in clinical practice, and sits on the relevant committees for the International Standardisation Organization (ISO) and the British Hypertension Society (BHS). He also advises the World Health Organisation (WHO) on perinatal research, and is a member of the Low Resourse Use Blood Pressure device committee for the WHO. He has been an advisor to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health (CEMACH), Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RCOG). His charity work also includes being a medical advisor to Action on pre-eclampsia, Tommys the Baby Charity and Action Medical Research

 AnnaJones Trustee - Political Awareness and NHS link
Anna Jones MBBS DTM+H MRCGP MSc FFPH

Anna is a public health consultant and her most recent post is as a Consultant in Health Protection for the Health Protection Agency. After working in a wide variety of medical hospital posts in the UK, she studied at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, worked as a medical officer at a rural hospital in Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa and then qualified as a GP. Anna trained in public health during which time she was able to develop her interests in global health including a secondment as a short-term consultant for WHO/CDC on the polio eradication programme in Ethiopia. Her current interests include child health, communicable disease control and building public health capacity in developing countries.

Catherine Muge

Catherine Muge manages UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign in the UK.  She has varied experience in the not-for-profit sector, including marketing, lobbying and strategic consultancy, gathered within both small charitable foundations and large UK and global NGOs. 

Catherine is also a trustee of the UK AIDS Consortium, and specialises in project and campaign management.

Awo Ablo

Awo Ablo is Director of Business Development at the BBC World Service Trust.  Awo has worked in the international development and UK charity sectors for over 10 years, designing strategies to grow income from a range of donors.  She has acted as representative to the WHO on the global eye care consortium Vision 2020. 

Awo has also provided training and support for NGO's in-country resource mobilisation in Africa and Asia. Previous roles have been at at Sight Savers International, the Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) - a multi-disciplinary think-tank, the Royal Geographical Society and Saferworld. She has an MA in Area Studies Africa from SOAS, at the University of London and studied for her Philosophy and Theology BA at the University of Kent. Born and raised in Ghana, Awo holds dual Ghanaian-British citizenship.


 Sophie

Trustee - Board Secretary
Sophie Coronini-Cronberg MSc DTMPH MA(Oxon) BA(Hons)

After reading Human Sciences at University, Sophie worked in corporate communications for a range of private and non-profit organisations. She then returned to university to complete a postgraduate degree in international public health, and was then able to combine communications and public health skills in a variety of roles, including working with: an EU agency on communicable disease issues, a British healthcare charity in Kenya, as well as undertaking primary public health research in Thailand. Sophie joined the NHS in 2007 and is a Public Health Specialty Registrar in London.
