f you're looking to spend £15 - have you considered sponsoring a safe birth? On average this is all it costs to support a mum through a safe childbirth in Ethiopia. Your contribution will help Maternity Worldwide train local midwives and staff to provide this essential service; in Ethiopia approximately 40% of women have complications during pregnancy and 90% give birth without a trained attendant. |
If you're looking to spend £45 - have you considered sponsoring an emergency delivery?
10% of all women in Ethiopia need more support at time of delivery and
often need surgery to save their or their baby's lives. The average
cost of a caesarean section in the Gimbie hospital is £45.
Got £100 to spend? How about sponsoring one of our community based awareness building and women's groups projects?
Most of the women we help live far away from the hospital, there are
very few roads and the journey may mean a 3 day walk. This is almost
impossible when you're in labour. Many women die because they delay
getting help because they don't know what's available or appreciate how
serious their condition is. Maternity Worldwide works with local
communities to help women understand the possible complications they
may face and to plan in advance. £100 helps to purchase training and display materials for the outreach teams to use when they visit communities.

Donate £15/£45 or £100 online and send an email, along with your order form, to fundraising@maternityworldwide.org informing us of your online donation, quoting your donation reference number.
We can also take your donation via Paypal make your payment to the email address "info@maternityworldwide.org" Please remember to state what your payment is for, and to send in the order form.
We usually process and post the gift certificate immediately; however at busy periods it can take up to two weeks. If the order is urgent, please let us know.
