Knitters

Shirley Diver, The Isleham Knitting Group, The Norfolk Knitting Group, and the Sutton Ladies Sewing Group
Thanks to you all for fantastic efforts knitting for Maternity Worldwide.

Margaret Peacock and her groups of knitters
You are all doing a great job with the blankets. We use them in Ethiopia as wraps for mums as well as on the beds to make the hospital ward look more attractive. Also they are used as wraps for babies as they don't have cots.

Also a big thanks to all our knitters, including Mrs Sylvia Gudger, Nan Goudie, Dorothy Hird, Mrs Pauline Gledstone, Mrs Joyce Rogers, Marilyn Reynolds and friends.

Many apologies if you have been knitting and your name is not here on the website. Please contact us at knitting@maternityworldwide.org and we will be pleased to add you.

St Andrews Methodist Church, Halifax
A big thank you to all the knitters at St Andrews for all your hard work in producing all those beautiful baby vests.

What happens to the vests?

Latest statistics are around 900 babies born/annum, this will increase even more when we have two new doctors and two new midwives from August, and equipment for 4 new clinics.

The vests have been helping to attract more women to the hospital and not to be scared to come when they need help. The vests may be the only piece of new clothing the babies ever receive. We can now be more liberal with them in Gimbie thanks to your hard work.

BECAUSE OF THIS SUCCESS, WE NOW WOULD PREFER IF KNITTING GROUPS COULD, IF POSSIBLE, KNIT SQUARES AND THEN MAKE BABY BLANKETS AND FULL SIZED BLANKETS FOR WOMEN.

Thank you for your support!
